I was asked to make an album as a gift for a photographer friend of mine to keep postcards and other memorabilia in. I used a type of album binding I learned last year from the amazing Benjamin Elbel called the Ascona Binding (as this was where it was devised). It's a brilliant way to make up card pages without sewing and they all lie flat once the book is opened and also allow space for the book to fill up by "guarding" (ie adding an extra folded layer at the spine). Pippa was very keen to use a purple theme so I used some Italian Rossi decorative letterpress paper and foil blocked a cloth inlay on the front. I was pleased with how it came out..
