The brief was for something appropriate for a very talented designer and motion capture artist who had worked on some recent high profile films such as Warhorse and Harry Potter. No pressure there then. Eventually came up with an idea based on a Zoetrope - a Victorian toy where paper strips were revolved in a drum and viewed through slits in the side. They were one of the first and most popular optical toys that preceded the moving image in cinema. I found some suitable paper from the Pollocks Toy Museum in Covent Garden. The paper itself had too large a pattern repeat for an A5 book so I had to reduce it down to fit.
